Dr. C. Michael Porter

Dr. C. Michael Porter   is the Artistic Director of Critical Mass Vocal Artists, a professional choral ensemble in Boise, Idaho. Prior appointments include Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Boise State University, Brevard College, and Bloomsburg University. Dr. Porter’s international conducting engagements include choirs in Uruguay, South Korea, Belgium, the Netherlands, and France. He is also an associate editor for the ACDA Choral Journal, NCCO The Choral Scholar & American Choral Review, and coordinates the NCCO’s Research Memorandum Series. His research has been published in both publications and he frequently contributes to their recorded sound and score review columns.

Dr. Porter received degrees from The University of Iowa and Truman State University. He also received further conducting training at the Oregon Bach Festival with Helmut Rilling.
